What is Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx?

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx is an ultrawide gaming monitor. It offers you excellent specs at a great price. Read this review to know more about it.

Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx – Image Quality

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx is a 43-inch (3840 x 1200) ultrawide Monitor. It is based on the SVA panel and covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut. It supports 8-bit color depth.

The SVA panel used by this monitor is made by Samsung. This SVA (Super Vertical Alignment) Panel offers you better viewing angles and image quality than your standard VA panel monitors.

Its image quality is very good. VA panels are popular for their high contrast ratios. This monitor has a contrast ratio of 3000:1. This results in rich and vibrant visuals with colors that pop out. The blacks appear darker and whites appear brighter making visuals much more realistic.

It has a curvature of 1800mm that helps improve immersion while gaming and watching movies.

It has a brightness of 320-nits. This monitor is fairly bright even when used in a well-lit condition. I suggest you tone it down a bit to avoid any eye strain.

Its panel uniformity is a mixed bag. The colors are fairly accurate at the center of the panel but there were ups and downs in its uniformity as we move towards the edges. This can be attributed to its huge size. It won’t be a major problem for gaming and multimedia consumption but for those who want to use it for graphic design should look at the alternatives mentioned below. You can also try calibrating this monitor. It calibrates very well.

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx has 178-degree wide viewing angles. There won’t be any washed-out visuals like those found in TN panel monitors when you view this monitor from extreme angles.

It has a pixel density of 92 PPI. It is decent enough to make text appear sharp without any blurriness.

This monitor is DisplayHDR400 certified. It is an entry-level certification and is mostly useless since this monitor doesn’t have a wider color gamut and higher brightness. If you are buying this monitor to consume HDR-related content, I suggest you look at other alternatives.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. There was noticeable backlight bleeding present towards its edges. This is common in almost all VA panel monitors and it is mostly noticeable only in dark areas of a video game or movie. Its screen also has a matte anti-glare coating that diffuses any reflections that form on it.

The overall image quality of this monitor is more than satisfactory. It is definitely not the most perfect monitor out there and does have few issues. It is not a great choice for graphic designers and color-critical professionals. Let me tell you that these minor cons do not affect its gaming experience.

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx is totally worth it if you will mostly use this monitor for gaming. It is an excellent ultrawide monitor for sim racing, flight simulators, etc.

Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx – Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx has a fashionable design with red highlights. It isn’t over-the-top but it definitely stands apart from the rest. It has thin bezels that maximize its viewing area and minimize any bezel gap when you use it for a multi-monitor setup.

The build quality of the cabinet is decent. The plastic used feels durable and has a matte finish on it that prevents smudges. It has a v-shaped stand that supports the cabinet. The stand does wobble sometimes due to the large size of the monitor. A square-based stand would have been a much better choice to prevent this wobble.

It has OSD buttons on its lower bezel. A joystick would have been a much better option considering its price. The OSD menu is a very basic one. Even when compared with other ACER monitors we tested, this was a minor setback. We also observed a time lag between button press and its response being reflected on the screen.

In terms of ergonomics, it has only tilt capability. You cannot adjust its height, swivel it or rotate it. There is an option to wall mount it using a 100 x 100mm VESA mount present on it.

It has a generous number of connectivity options. They include: 2 x HDMI 1.4, 1 x HDMI 2.0 and 1 x DisplayPort 1.2. It has a 3.5mm headphone jack and 2 x 3W built-in speakers. These speakers are really bad and I would strongly recommend using external speakers while gaming for a much better experience.

Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx – Gaming Performance

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx is best suited for gaming. Its curved 43-inch screen makes it a great choice for sim racing and flight simulators.

It has a refresh rate of 120Hz. This offers you a buttery smooth gameplay experience when compared with 60Hz.

It has a response time of 4ms (GtG) which is decent enough for a VA panel monitor. Its input lag is imperceptible. Unless you’re a hardcore competitive gamer, it should be plenty enough for you.

The Acer EI431CR Pbmiiipx also supports AMD’s FreeSync refresh rate technology. It eliminates all kinds of stuttering and screen tearing while gaming. It unofficially supports Nvidia’s G-Sync technology as well. You can enable it in the Nvidia control panel.

It is also a great choice for gaming consoles such as PS5 and Xbox Series X / S.  The overall gaming performance of this monitor is pretty satisfactory.
