What is Acer XF250Q?

The Acer XF250Q is a budget gaming monitor made for competitive gamers. It has tons of features and comes at an affordable price. Read this review of The Acer XF250Q to learn more about it.

The monitor we reviewed in this article is the Acer XF250Q Cbmiiprx. The Acer XF250Q Abmiidprzx (XF250QA) is the same monitor with an extra DVI port, a quad-USB 3.0 hub, and Motion Blur Reduction.

Acer XF250Q - Image Quality

The Acer XF250Q is a 24-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) Monitor. It is based on the TN panel. It covers 99% of the sRGB color gamut and supports 8-bit color depth via dithering (6-bit + FRC).

The out-of-box color accuracy of this monitor is bad. TN panels are better for fast response times but do not have the best colors. This is a sacrifice most players make for better performance in games. Although its out of box colors are bad, you can definitely tweak them and make them better.

Here are my color settings for the Acer XF250Q

Picture:

  • Brightness: 25
  • Contrast: 45
  • Black Level: 3
  • Blue light: OFF
  • ACM: OFF
  • Super Sharpness: OFF

Color:

  • Gamma: 2.2
  • Color Temperature: User
  • R Gain:55
  • G Gain:52
  • B Gain:50
  • All RGB Bias set to 49
  • sRGB mode: OFF
  • 6-axis Hue: Default
  • 6-axis Saturate: Set all to 55 and Set Yellow saturate to 59

These settings should improve your colors to a huge extent. The color quality will be much better now and the images look vibrant with colors that pop out. It is definitely not on par with the IPS monitors but still, they are much better than before.

Do keep in mind that every monitor is different. These settings gave me the best possible colors. You can always tweak them if you want to. For most users, the above settings should be enough for better image quality.

The TN panels also narrow viewing angles. You get 170° Horizontal and 160° Vertical viewing angles. There won’t be any change in colors, brightness, and contrast levels leading to washed-out images as long as you face the monitor directly.

The Acer XF250Q has a massive brightness level of 400-nits and a contrast ratio of 1000:1. Its brightness is higher even when you compare it with non-gaming models in its price range. I suggest you tone it down a bit to avoid eye strain. The contrast level is fair enough to give you sharp and distinct images in games.

It has a Pixel density of 90PPI. It is a decent value and you won’t have any pixelated images or blurry text.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels on it. There was little bleeding noticed at maximum brightness. It is definitely tolerable and you can simply reduce the brightness to control it.

The Acer XF250Q has a matte anti-glare coating on it that will help prevent any reflections from forming on it.

Overall, the Acer XF250Q may have bad colors out of the box but you can use the setting above to make them much better. Once calibrated, the image quality should be decent enough to enjoy gaming.

Acer XF250Q - Design, Ergonomics, and Connectivity

The Acer XF250Q comes in a simple design. Its black cabinet has a matte finish. The bezels used are also thin. It doesn’t have those colored accents present in most gaming monitors today. Its overall design is minimalistic yet effective.

There are six OSD buttons placed in the lower bezel. They help you navigate the OSD menu and are easy to use.

The overall build quality is decent. The plastic used is durable and is of good quality. Despite being a budget monitor, it doesn’t feel cheap in any way. The stand has a circular base. It stands sturdy without any wobble.

The stand is fully ergonomic. You can adjust the height of the monitor, swivel it, tilt it and pivot It at 90 degrees. It also has a 100x100mm VESA pattern using which you can wall mount it or connect it to a third-party stand.

The connectivity options of the Acer XF250Q include 1x HDMI 1.4, 1x HDMI 2.0, and 1x DisplayPort 1.2. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack. You get 2 x2W built-in speakers with this monitor. Their sound output is average. I suggest you use external speakers for a better audio experience.

Acer XF250Q – Gaming Performance

The Acer XF250Q is an excellent gaming monitor. Its 1080p resolution is the right spot for competitive gamers. A decent graphics card should be enough to run most eSports games at 200+ FPS.

It has a massive refresh rate of 240Hz. If you’re switching over from a 60Hz monitor, you will have a day and night difference in smoothness.

It has a 1ms response time and its input lag is around 3ms. The input lag is totally imperceptible even to a seasoned pro gamer. The ultra-low response time gives you all the competitive edge you need.

There was only a slight amount of ghosting in some places. It is definitely tolerable and also expected as my RTX 2060 couldn’t run the games at 240FPS all the time. If you have a powerful graphics card like the RTX 2080 or RTX 3080 that can run games at 240 FPS all the time, you won’t have this problem.

You can further reduce the input lag using the overdrive option in the OSD menu. I suggest you turn it off as it introduces flickering, inverse ghosting, and motion blur at some places in games.

The Acer XF250Q also supports the AMD FreeSync and Nvidia G-Sync technologies. You will have no stuttering, lagging, or screen tearing in video games.

Acer XF250Q – Features

The Acer XF250Q also has a blue light filter. It will help you game continuously for long hours without worrying about eye strain. The monitor is also flicker-free. You won’t have any headaches even when you game for a prolonged period of time.

The Black Boost feature increases the visibility of enemies in darker areas of video games and the Aim Point feature consists of customizable crosshairs you can use.

The OSD menu lets you adjust various settings like brightness, contrast, color temperature, Gamma, etc. There are also many advanced color controls. The OSD menu is fairly user friendly.
