Bellroy Classic Backpack

Classic Backpack 2nd Edition (Unisex Laptop Backpack, 20L) - Slate

Bellroy has become one of the top brands in regards to accessories in the last decade. Pretty impressive seeing as the company has only been active since 2009. In the last few years, they’ve become well known for their high quality, especially in their wallets and their backpacks.

The Bellroy Classic comes in various different generations, with the 2nd generation being my personal favourite. Why? Well firstly, it’s extremely comfortable as it’s filled with a lot of back padding, which can help to ensure some cushioning for your back. It also has a 15 inch laptop insert on the inside of the bag too. So, if you’re going to be carrying your laptop to and from work on a regular basis, this would be perfect. It also has two easy access pockets, one on the front and one of the top of the backpack.

The only issue with this backpack for many is going to be the price. It’s expensive, and that’s going to be way too much for some people, which is understandable. However if you can afford to spend this much on a backpack, then you can be sure that it will last you a good few years.

Superdry Hollow Montana Backpack

Superdry Mens Hollow Montana Backpack Black One Size

The Superdry Hollow Montana backpack is much more affordable, so if you’re looking for something cost efficient, this might be a contender.

It’s made from 100% polyester, which means that it’s not only comfortable but durable too. It has two pockets on either side of the bag for all of your smaller items you might need to carry with you to work. Although it isn’t stated to be waterproof, it is very resilient and if you get caught in a shower of rain it will be able to cope pretty easily. If you aren’t keen on a black backpack, then it’s available in a wide range of different colours too.

All in all, if you’re after a cheap enough backpack that will last a good while, then the Hollow Montana from Superdry is definitely worth considering.

Eastpak Out of Office Backpack

Eastpak Out of Office Backpack Black

If you want the ultimate variety in colours, then you can’t really go wrong with Eastpak’s Out of Office range. This style of backpack is available in over 20 different colors, so there’s bound to be something to suit everyone.

Again, this is just a typical run of the mill backpack, with a useful pocket on the front to keep smaller accessories. There are no extra pockets on the sides or the front of the backpack, which might suit some people who don’t need all those extra pockets that they’re never going to use. Although this backpack has the least pockets of any that I’ve mentioned, it actually has the most capacity and can hold up to 27 litres comfortably. It also has a padded laptop sleeve on the inside of the main compartment, too.

For those looking for something cost effective yet still tons of space and decent quality, then opting for Eastpak is never a bad idea.

Samsonite Paradiver Light Backpack

Samsonite Paradiver Light - Backpack M, 40 cm, 16 L, Black

Another brand that speaks for itself is Samsonite, who makes some of the best quality backpacks available at a low price. If you want to keep a professional look, then it’s probably worth looking at this Paradiver backpack.

If you want a lightweight and relatively small backpack, then this is worth considering. However, bear in mind that it does only have a 16 litre capacity, so it wouldn’t be suitable for those that need to carry a large laptop around with them. Whilst it does have a pocket in the front suitable for your wallet or passport, it does sacrifice pockets to be a smaller, more portable backpack. It also comes with a 2 year warranty too, which a company like Samsonite is more likely to honour.

Overall, this is another great backpack to consider, even if it is a little on the small side.

What to look for in an Office Backpack

When you’re considering getting a backpack, there are some things that you’ll need to take into account beforehand. This can make it much easier to make a decision, when you’re clear about what exactly it is that you want from a backpack.

Brand

Deciding which brand you want is an important part of the purchase process. Some brands like Fjallraven and Bellroy are expensive, but they’ll typically last you for a long time. Whereas if you opt for a cheaper brand, then you might be shoping for a new backpack again in a years time. You can find some middle of the road brands like Eastpak and Samsonite which provide a decent quality at a reasonable price, too.

Size

This will entirely depend on exactly how much stuff you need to take with you to work. If you have to take a laptop, then it’s probably worth opting for a backpack that has a separate laptop section if you want to keep your laptop in perfect condition. Then, consider the other things you might need to take with you. Do you hit the gym before or after work? Well, you might need extra space for that. Bring your own lunch? Well, you might need.. yeah, you get my point.

Colour & Style

Now it’s time to think about less practicality, and more just what you want! If you’re trying to keep things professional, then stick with a black or brown backpack as you really can’t go wring with these colours. However if your office is a little bit more modern, then you can go all out and get any colour and style that you want.

Conclusion

Overall, picking a backpack shouldn’t be difficult.. it should be fun! As long as you get something that’s comfortable and can hold all of your stuff then any backpack should be able to do the trick.

With more and more of us commuting now than ever, getting a good backpack is an essential for most. Hopefully I’ve given you some ideas to think about if you’re going to purchase one.
