Epson Ecotank ET-2750 Printer Review

When you’re looking for a new printer, one of the first ones you’ll probably find recommended to you is the Epson Ecotank. It’s one of the bestselling printers over the last decade, so there’s good reason behind why many people think it’s a great option for a printer.

However, without using the printer itself, it can be really difficult to know whether it would be right for you. So if you’re confused as to whether you should opt for the Ecotank 2750, let’s look at a couple of reasons why you might want to. If you’re tired of expensive printing costs, you’ll want to keep reading.

Epson Expression Ecotank ET-2750 Review

Overall, this is one of the better duplex printers on the market. Its main attraction is undoubtedly the super low printing costs, which make it a shrewd investment if you print on a daily or near daily basis. This is matched by a high print quality, too.

As an argument against the Epson Expression ET-2750, it is pretty expensive. It’s not going to be suitable if you’re looking for the best printer on a budget, as its high initial cost will likely be too much for some.

This is the little brother of the Epson EcoTank ET-4700, and they’re very similar to one another. The Expression range is designed to be as competent for printing documents as it is for printing colour pages.

Aside from this, there are definitely other aspects of the Epson Ecotank ET-2750 that are worth noting as well. We’re going to look at this wi-fi printer in a little closer detail.

Ink Costs: Average | Sheet capacity: 250 sheets | Wifi Printing: Yes | Scanner: Yes | DPI: 2400 | Pages per minute: 33

If you’re happy to switch ink cartridges for ink tanks, then this Epson printer may be of interest. The main reason you might do this is that you’ll likely save a ton in ink costs.

For people that print on a regular or semi regular basis (weekly), switching over to ink tanks can be a wise choice. You can typically get a much lower cost per page when you weigh up your overall printing costs at the end of the year.

This printer has been out for a good while now, and generally across the board it’s thought to be one of the better ones out there. This is definitely true if you’re looking for double sided printing, which isn’t a given with most models.

Like all Epson printers, they’re at the more expensive end of the price range. But, it is of a decent quality. Let’s look closer at the design of the printer itself.

Design

The design of the Epson Ecotank is quite basic, and it will fit quite easily into any colour scheme. It comes with an LCD display on the front of the printer, which is pretty self explanatory in terms of how to use it.

It weighs a little more than 5 kilograms, so it shouldn’t be too much of a hassle to carry either. It’s a fairly lightweight printer, but it’s not suitable to be used as a portable printer.

This is a 3-in-1 printer, and it can hold 100 sheets of paper as standard. Along with that, it has a 30 sheet output paper tray to match. However, it doesn’t come with your typical automatic document feeder that you may be used to, so it’s not ideal for printing in high volumes.

Efficiency & Ink

The main selling point of the Ecotank 2750 is that it’s really cost efficient on ink. However, it is quite expensive initially, so some people may actually be better off opting for a laser printer. This is especially true if you only want to print in black and white. But if you’re set on an inkjet printer, then the 2750 does have a lot to offer.

In terms of specifications, the 2750 has a DPI of 5760×1440. If you aren’t sure what this means, the DPI is the dots per inch that the printer prints out – it’s similar to the resolution on a monitor. This is quite a high DPI for a printer, which means that it has the ability to print high quality images.

The use of an ink tank as opposed to an ink cartridge really does make a massive difference in terms of the amount of sheets you can print. You also don’t need to worry too much about refills, as it’s very easy to add more ink when you need to.

The printer itself comes with a ton of ink, so the likelihood of you having to stock up again any time soon after purchasing is slim.

I should probably also mention the print speed, which is something many people look for when printing at a high scale. In black and white it prints 33 pages per minute, which makes it an excellent home office printer.

Setup

It’s very easy to setup this printer, even if you’re not confident and haven’t set up a printer before. The instructions are quite in depth and easy to follow, so you shouldn’t have any problems getting it up and running.

You can connect to it with WiFi. which makes it really simple to use your phone or laptop to print stuff out. You can also use the more traditional methods of a USB port to print, too. Of course, the 2750 isn’t just an inkjet printer. It’s also a scanner, and a photocopier too.

It’s very simple to use the LCD display to choose whichever function you want. So whilst it is more expensive than your standard printer, it also has a lot more to offer too. It prints at a speed of 33 pages per minute, which is quite fast in comparison to other printers out there on the market.

Pros and Cons

Whilst this is just a brief overview of this printer, I do think that it can be broken down even more. So, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of the Epson Ecotank 2750.

Pros

The ink prices for this printer are pretty reasonable in the long run, whilst not being the very cheapest around.
The capability to print, scan and copy is definitely an advantage over other models out there. So if you’re looking for an all-in-one, this might fit the bill.
When you’re printing images like photos, it’s prints at a really high quality. This is due to the high dots per inch that the printer maintains.

Cons

You can’t scan your images via a Wifi connection, you have to either connect it with a USB port or use a memory card. Plus, there’s no duplex scanning either.
The ink nozzles on this printer tend to get clogged very easily. Although it is normal for them to get clogged, you don’t want to be dealing with this all the time.
The printer itself is quite expensive, and the casual day-to-day user won’t care about its fast print speeds as much as its price. The lack of a document feeder is also something to think about.

Epson Ecotank – Questions Answered

Is the Epson Ecotank worth it?

For most people, I have to be honest and say that the Epson Ecotank 2750 probably isn’t going to be worth it. It’s quite expensive, the ink costs are good but not excellent, and the product itself is pretty expensive. For those looking for a simple printer, which is most people, this isn’t going to be the printer for you.

How long will the Epson Ecotank ink that comes with the printer last?

With the majority of Ecotank models, Epson are actually giving a ton of ink with them to help sales. This should be enough ink to last you a minimum of 6 months, and if you only print occasionally, then it could last you in excess of a year.

Is the Epson Ecotank 2750 good for printing photos?

Whilst I’m not thrilled about the other aspects of the printer, one thing I will say is that it prints high quality images. So if image quality is important to you, then it is probably worth thinking about looking at a printer from the Epson Ecotank range.

Does Epson Ecotank ink dry out easily?

A common concern with Epson Ecotank printers is that the ink is going to dry out very easily. Fortunately, this isn’t really one of the issues that can come with them, as the ink in Epson Ecotank’s tend not to dry up like with some other printers.

Is an ink tank better than an ink cartridge?

Generally, the main difference between the two is that with an ink tank printer, you have the ability to get a greater volume of ink than if you were to use a cartridge. This helps to make the printing costs lower in comparison to an ink cartridge printer.

Conclusion

Overall, whilst I do think that the Epson Ecotank 2750 is a perfectly good printer, it is very expensive when you compare it to other printers on the market.

Whilst it would definitely make a good choice, for most people just looking for a printer to use at home, it’s going to be a little too much for the average person. If you want a cheaper printer, check out my list of the best home office printers, which features some alternative options.

So the Epson Ecotank 2750 is a good choice if you have the money. But, many people won’t need to spend this much on a printer, and there are many other cheaper alternatives out there.
