HP OfficeJet 200 Printer Review

The HP Officejet is one of the bestselling inkjet printers in recent memory. However, with some many other inkjet printers available on the market, it can be really difficult to know whether it’s the right printer for you.

Whilst it really depends on what you’re looking for in a printer, the HP Officejet 200 really does have a lot to offer. If you aren’t sure whether this would be the right printer for you, then stick with me as I run through what features the printer has, and whether it’s a good choice for the majority of people.

HP OfficeJet 200 Printer Review

The HO Officejet 200 is a relatively lightweight printer, but is has enough power to print quickly and easily. It is a portable printer, which means that it is designed to be easily carried with you wherever you go. It is quite compact, but the length of the printer is 36cm, so bear that in mind beforehand.

The best thing about a printer like this one is that you don’t actually need any mains electric for it to work. It has a built in battery, so if you want to use it when you’re not near any plugs, then you can do so easily. Unlike some other portable printers, the battery in this model will actually last you a good while instead of running out within an hour or so.

The Officejet 200 has pretty much everything you could need from a printer. It’s very easy to use wirelessly, so if you need an Airprint printer then this would make a good choice. Many printers seem to have an issue with wifi printing, but this model doesn’t and you can connect to it very easily. It prints 4800x1200dpi, which is good if you need to print high quality images.

The printer has a pretty low capacity of only 50 sheets of standard A4 paper. If you’re looking to print a range of different things, then this printer might be a great buy. It’s good for printing envelopes, photo paper and cards too.

In terms of the pricing, although it does seem expensive in comparison to other printers available, all good portable printers cost around this much. If you don’t need a portable printer, then I’d recommend checking out my list of home office printers to find something more reasonably priced.

HP printers are typically at the middle end of the budget, and this is true for this model too. Now that we’ve briefly run through some of the specifications, let’s look at the pros and cons of this model.

  • Obviously the easy portability is probably the main thing that will attract people to a printer like this. It is very easy to carry around with you.
  • The printer’s connectivity is great, and you’ll rarely have any issues linking it up with your devices.
  • The quality of the printing is excellent. If you need a printer that can give you fantastic images, then this is one to consider.

  • The ink isn’t the most expensive out there, but it isn’t cheap either as this printer does run through ink pretty easily.
  • As well as the ink being fairly expensive, the printer itself isn’t cheap either. You’re really paying a premium for the ability to carry this printer around with you, so make sure you decide whether that’s something you need.

HP Officejet 200 – FAQs answered

Does the HP Officejet 200 have Bluetooth?

Yes, the HP Officejet 200 does have the capability for you to link it to your device via Bluetooth. You can also connect to it via Wifi too if your other device doesn’t have Bluetooth capability. This is an essential thing to have if you’re looking for something portable.

Is it worth me getting a portable printer?

Honestly, for most people it is not worth getting a portable printer like the Officejet 200. It’s a good printer, but it’s also expensive for what you’re getting, and that’s because it’s portable. If you don’t need a portable printer, look elsewhere.

What’s the difference between the HP Officejet 200 and the Officejet 250?

Whilst they are both portable printers, there are some differences between them. The Officejet 250 is slightly thicker and it has a more complex display interface. Plus, the Officejet 250 is designed to be able to copy and scan stuff too.

Is this the best portable printer?

It’s certainly one of them if you’re looking for something simple. There are other options out there if you’re looking for a printer that is a little more complex. But if having a compact printer is your main focus, then this would definitely suit.

How much are portable printers?

Although this printer is quite expensive, it’s actually at the lower end of the price scale in comparison to other portable printers. They typically start at around £150, and can go all the way up into the multiple hundreds of pounds.

In conclusion, this is definitely a good choice of printer for those that need something they can take with them anywhere, whether that be to meetings or as a student. However, it is quite expensive so it’s not a necessity for the majority of us.

It can print to a high quality, with mediocre printing costs, and to be honest there’s not much more that you can ask of a printer. So, it’s worth your consideration if you’re thinking about purchasing one.
