Instead, you should use the Roku power cord/adapter and plug your Roku directly into a wall outlet.

We all know that sometimes the old trick of turning off the device can fix the problem. But with Roku players, for example, it is actually easier said than done. 

They are designed to remain on all the time and always connected to the internet. That’s why they don’t have the “on” and “off” buttons, and the only way to cut the power is to unplug them at the source.

Some Roku streaming players are designed to enable powering through the TV’s USB port, such as Roku Express, Roku Express 4K, Roku Express 4K+, Roku Streaming Stick 4K, Roku Streaming Stick 4K+, and Roku Streaming Stick+ Headphone Edition.

It means that the moment you turn off your TV, its power is also turned off. 

And there is one more specific case, with Roku 4, which has a fan and feature to turn it off through the remote and manually.

Use the USB cable that comes with Roku

Why does using different USB cables might cause a problem with low power? Because each Roku product has different power specs, some other cables might not provide the specific voltage or the amp output required for your Roku device.

Check network connectivity

We already mentioned that the latest Roku devices are designed to be constantly turned on and connected to the internet. The OS of your Roku device needs to get updated with the newest version, which is possible only if your device is connected to the internet.

It will start bugging if it misses some updates, like any other device with the operating system (your computer or laptop, for example). And that might cause the insufficient power message to pop up on your screen.

Allow Roku to cool off

If you need, for any reason, to use the USB port, check whether you used the right one, and change it just in case the USB connector is faulty. It may occur with frequent plugging in and out. 

Clear the cache on Roku

Besides crashing, the screen freezes, and sound problems may all indicate that you have a power issue. But even if you fix the power, these problems won’t disappear before you clear the cache on Roku.

The procedure is pretty much straightforward. You press the Home button five times, the Up button once, the rewind button twice, and the forward button twice. 5-1-2-2 formula will clear the cache on your Roku device, and it will restart. 

Remove extension cables
