Sceptre C355W-3440UN - Image Quality

The Sceptre C355W-3440UN is a 35-inch 3440 x 1440 (WQHD) curved monitor. It has an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a curvature of 1800R. It is based on a VA Panel. It covers 95% of the sRGB color gamut and supports an 8-bit color depth.

The overall color quality of this monitor in real-life conditions is impressive. It is better than most of the TN panels out there. The images are vivid and accurate. The colors pop out.

The 3440 x 1440 resolution offers you a lot of screen real estate. You can work on different applications side-by-side without worrying about running out of space. It will help improve your productivity while working or programming.

It has a brightness level of 320-nits and a contrast ratio of 3000:1. The high contrast levels combined with the monitor’s curvature adds depth to the images and make them look realistic. Blacks appear darker and whites appear brighter. You will have immersive gaming and movie-watching experience.

This monitor has wide and comfortable 178-degree viewing angles. There were no shifts in color, brightness, and contrast levels when viewed from various angles.

The monitor we reviewed had no dead pixels. There were also no issues of backlight bleeding.

Sceptre C355W-3440UN - Design, Ergonomics and Connectivity

The Sceptre C355W-3440UN comes in a simple design. Its thin bezels give it a sharp look. There are also three red color strips present on the backside of the monitor that adds an aesthetic touch to the monitor. Its overall build quality is decent. The plastic used is strong and durable.

There are five buttons placed on the bottom right-hand corner of the lower bezel. They help you navigate the OSD menu. They are responsive and easy to reach.

It has a V-shaped stand that doesn’t wobble. In terms of ergonomics, you are only left with the -5/15-degree tilt capability. You cannot swivel the monitor, adjust its height, or rotate it.

Sceptre C355W-3440UN - Gaming Performance

The Sceptre C355W-3440UN also comes with many gaming-centric features.

It has a refresh rate of 100Hz. If you’re switching over from a 60Hz monitor, you’ll notice a lot of difference in the smoothness of video games. Trust me when I say this. Once you are habituated to the 100Hz refresh rate, you’ll not want to go back to the 60Hz monitor.

Though the 100Hz monitor is not the best option for competitive gaming, it is still a great choice. You’ll have no problems in most single-player and multiplayer games.

You also need to keep in mind that the 3440 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution will tax your graphic card. So, you will need a top of the line graphics card for most latest games to reach 100+ FPS.

This monitor has a response time of 4ms. The input lag is around 9ms and is imperceptible. This is impressive when you consider the fact that this monitor uses a VA panel.

Most VA panels offer high response times around 8 to 10ms. Still, this monitor is not the best choice for competitive gaming but for most gamers, this should be more than enough.

Another important feature is the FreeSync and G-Sync support. This monitor works flawlessly with AMD and Nvidia cards. You can enjoy gaming without worrying about screen-tearing, stuttering, and lagging while gaming.

There were minor issues of ghosting only in darker areas of games. Except that, you’ll have no ghosting or trailing issues.

If you’re having ghosting while playing graphically intensive games like Red Dead Redemption 2, Control, etc. where you cannot reach 100 FPS, turning off the overdrive option in the OSD menu can help minimize it.

You can turn on the overdrive option in fast-paced games like CS: GO, PUBG where you can reach 100+ FPS. This will let you game without any ghosting no matter whatever game you play.

Overall, the Sceptre C355W-3440UN has everything an average gamer would want on his monitor.
